Our surgeons perform many different surgical procedures, including the latest advances in sinus surgery.

  • Safe and Effective
  • Clinically Proven
  • Minimally Invasive
  • Minimal Discomfort
  • Quick Recovery Time

If you are one of the 37 million Americans suffering from sinus problems, relief for your sinuses could be as easy as a tiny balloon. In most cases, this procedure can be performed on adults under local anesthesia and very mild sedation in the office. Our ability to perform this procedure in the office avoids the risks of general anesthesia as well as the added costs of a hospital procedure. Recovery time from an office procedure is much shorter than if the procedure were done under general anesthesia. Most people are back to regular activities after a day or so.

A clinically proven, minimally invasive procedure for treating sinus disease is now available at DeSoto ENT.  The Balloon Sinuplasty system uses a small catheter and balloon to quickly and gently open blocked sinuses.

Sinusitis is one of the most common chronic health problems in the United States.  Patients typically suffer from headaches, congestion, drainage, and fatigue.  This can seriously impact a person’s physical, functional, and emotional quality of life.  Traditionally, sinusitis patients were treated with medical therapy, or conventional sinus surgery known as Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery which usually involves the removal of tissue and bone to open up blocked sinus passageways.

DeSoto ENT is now offering a minimally invasive technology for treating chronic sinus disease called Balloon Sinuplasty.  Balloon Sinuplasty utilizes a small flexible balloon catheter, placed through the nasal passage, to gently dilate open the sinus passageway, restoring normal sinus drainage and function without the removal of tissue and bone.  This results in less postoperative discomfort and faster recovery times.

Multiple studies have confirmed the safety and efficacy of Balloon Sinuplasty.  An international, multi-center study, CLEAR1, published in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery2, confirmed the efficacy and safety of the procedure.

The CLEAR study reported:

  • 91.6% functional patency rate at one year3
  • No serious adverse events at two years4
  • Symptom improvement for 85% of patients across the two year postoperative period.5
